Updated: 2 months ago
Deadline: 30 Sep 2022

Ref. No. SU FV-3206-22

at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry . Closing date: 30 September 2022.

The Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry is one of the biggest departments at the Faculty of Natural Sciences with about 160 employees. The teaching focuses on analytical chemistry and sustainable chemistry. The main research areas are developing and understanding synthesis, process and production, as well as the use of structural and functional materials with applications in energy, environment and health.

Project description
The position will be associated with the project “Design of chemical reagents for fast and sensitive detection of pesticides in water and food” funded by Stockholm University Centre for Circular and Sustainable Systems (SUCCeSS) and is carried out collaboratively between Department of materials and Environmental Chemistry and Department of Organic Chemistry.

Main responsibilities
The position involves research on the in-silico design of reagents for the derivatization of glyphosate. A successful candidate will be setting up the in-silico design algorithms in collaboration with the research group of Assoc. Prof. Kruve.

The position also involves evaluation of the in-silico generated structures followed by the synthesis of the most promising candidates. The synthesized compounds will be evaluated for their sensitivity in LC/ESI/MS analysis and compared with commercial reagents. Active participation in SUCCeSS network is expected.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
The degree must have been completed at latest before the employment decision is made, but no more than three years before the closing date.
