Offer Description

Information about the division and the department
At the Department of Electrical Engineering , we conduct internationally renowned research in biomedical engineering, antenna systems, signal processing, image analysis, automatic control, automation, mechatronics, and communication systems. We offer a dynamic and international research environment with about 200 employees from more than 20 countries, and with extensive national and international research collaborations with academia, industry and society. The department provides around 100 courses, of which most are included in the Master’s Programs ”Biomedical Engineering”, ”Systems, Control and Mechatronics”, ”Communication Engineering” and "Electrical Power Engineering".

Major responsibilities
In this position you will perform research on signal processing for emerging radar systems, particular for novel radars where the receivers and transmitters are geographically distributed. Chalmers and SAAB together are pooling resources to develop the ultimate radar system for the future, and you are intended as a key member in this strategy.

As a key member of a cross-disciplinary team your research will combine theory and algorithms with experimental real-world investigations using Chalmers advanced multi-antenna testbed. Your research is an important part of our goal to demonstrate robust, energy efficient and highly efficient radar systems.

You are also expected to supervise PhD students in topics close to your area, and there are possibilities to perform some teaching.

Qualifications
Applicants should have, or expect to receive, a PhD in a field related to signal processing or communications, preferably connected to multiantenna signals. In addition to the formal qualifications, selection is also based on the performance of the candidates in other works (e.g. thesis and advanced level courses), as well as through interviews. Besides good subject knowledge, emphasis will be on analytical ability, motivation, ability to cooperate, initiative to work independently.

To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers).
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
