Duties:

Novel food products for specific consumer nisches with interest in environmental and health issues is an emerging field. The overall objective of this position is to evaluate plant-based side-streams from agricultural and food systems as well as plant material (mainly wheat) of specific genetic background for their nutritive, tasty and health-promoting values.

Analyses of proteins and bioactive compounds in these side-streams and in products thereof will be an important component for the candidate on this position. The post-doc will be involved in two Formas-funded on-going projects, with the focus on using green biomass and on the use of ancient and alien wheat for the development of novel food products.

Thus, the post-doc will work together with professors, researchers and post-docs in these two projects and in additional upcoming projects in related areas.

Qualifications:

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who has or will obtain within the nearest future a PhD in agriculture, biology, biochemistry, plant breeding or other types of education, preferably with a component of plant-based food and side-streams from the food/agricultural industry. Candidates should have a sound understanding of multidisciplinary tasks in relation to plant based food products.

Experiences on lab based evaluation of compounds in plants and novel food products of relevance for taste, human health and food security is a merit. The candidate should be able to work well independently as well as to collaborate in groups and have good overall communication skills, including the ability to communicate and write well in English.
