LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY
Hereby advertises a position as

formally based at the Department of Culture and Society (IKOS).

Duties
A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.

The successful candidate will contribute to the newly founded research group for Philosophy and Applied Ethics , especially to the group’s core research in philosophy of science. We note that philosophy science here is broadly understood encompassing all areas of specialization ranging from abstract theoretical, normative, and historical issues to applied subjects such as, among others, the philosophy and ethics of science, technology and engineering. Apart from carrying out her/his own research, the successful candidate is expected to support members of the research group in the acquisition of external funding and in the development of local, national and international collaborations. The successful candidate is expected to carry out the vast majority of her/his research in Linköping. This includes regular participation in the research group’s activities and programs (seminars, workshops, conferences, etc.). Additional duties may include teaching, course design, and other curricular activities. Such tasks, however, will not exceed 20% of the position’s responsibilities. The successful candidate can expect to fully profit from the division’s national and internal collaboration network that includes, among others, a liaison with the Program for Interdisciplinary Studies at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.

Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.

The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree in a research area relevant to the position, i.e., research on abstract theoretical, normative, and historical issues, or applied subjects such as, among others, the philosophy and ethics of science, technology and engineering.
