Description

The announced position is a part of the COPD-HIT study. The overall aim of this international multicenter study is to determine the feasibility & effect of a novel concept of supramaximal High-Intensity Training on muscle, brain, cardiovascular, and psychological function among people with COPD. The announced postdoctoral position is related to the first phase of the COPD-HIT study. Phase one is a cross-sectional study with the aim to determine the feasibility and acute effects of supramaximal HIT in COPD by comparing acute responses (e.g., exercise intensity, cardiorespiratory responses, perceived exertion etc) of supramaximal HIT and a continuous moderate intensity protocol. The appointment is placed in Umeå and is full time for two years. Start date immediately or by agreement.

Qualification requirements and other desirable requirements

The appointment includes planning and performance of research within the project, mainly data collection, analyzing and reporting of results. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team of junior and senior researchers from various disciplines. Candidates must hold a University degree equivalent to a European University PhD in Medical Sciences or of other relevant subjects. Candidates with a PhD degree less then tree years old will be considered first. It is desirable with clinical and/or research experiences in exercise training and exercise performance testing (specifically of cardiorespiratory parameters).  Experiences of quantitative data analyses, e.g. repeated measures ANOVA with the statistical program SPPS is considered an additional qualification. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are desirable.
