Job description

Department of Production Engineering is looking for one Postdoctoral Fellow in the field of digital twin for human-robot collaboration in smart manufacturing. This position will be financially sponsored by EU ODIN project and is responsible for both applied research and demonstrator development in the topic area. The outcomes will be tested and validated through actual assembly operations. The validated results will be used for benchmarking and a comparative study against the existing practice in industry.

The successful candidate will focus on digital twin for human-robot collaborative assembly, including modelling and prediction for active collision avoidance, robot control, and software-hardware integration. The aim is to implement a safe and shared environment for human-robot collaboration at IPU Robotic Lab. Efforts will also be devoted to develop a digital twin platform for monitoring and control of robots.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree preferably with specialisation in production engineering or industrial informatics. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Research expertise, Published and presented research outcomes at several scientific journals and peer-reviewed international conferences.
  • The capability of initiating research proposals and projects
  • Teaching abilities

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • This position requires extensive knowledge and experience in digital twin modelling, vision systems, 3D model-based and sensor-driven robot monitoring and control, algorithm design, as well as robot control.
  • Hands-on programming skills in Java, C++, Python and RAPID are evaluated favourably. Prior scientific publication in scholarly journals is a must.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with a specific focus on gender equality
  • Collaborative abilities, Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Independence
  • Experience in the digital twin, vision-based safety systems, industrial robotics and assembly.
  • Good proficiency in English, speaking and writing. Able to express verbally in Swedish or be prepared to learn Swedish.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.

    About the employment
