Updated: almost 3 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 31 Aug 2021

The Department of Technology Management and Economics, Chalmers University of Technology is now recruiting two postdoc researchers in supply chain management, focusing on collaborative transport and supply chain planning.

Information about the research/the project/the division
The Department of Technology Management and Economics broadly researches the interaction between technology development, industrial systems, society, people and the environment. The department is organized in six divisions for research and teaching.

These postdoc positions are placed at the Divisions of Supply & Operations Management and Service Management & Logistics , respectively, where the candidates are intended to work with the supply chain management faculty in the fields of supply chain planning, transport planning, supply chain collaboration and digitalization.

More specifically, the post doc project focuses on how to use, and get value of, digital platforms for collaboration, planning and execution of supply chains. The project will study both supply chain planning and transport planning processes, as well as their interfaces. One postdoc is intended to take a transport planning perspective and one a supply chain planning perspective. Thus, the project intends to bridge the interface between the transport and production systems in supply chains. The project will contribute to sustainable and efficient logistics and transport systems based on platform-enabled approaches to collaboration between different actors and functions. Manufacturing and retail companies are related to the project.

Major responsibilities
The primary duty as a post doc is to perform research, both as an individual and as a member of a research group, and to publish the results in high quality journals. The research is expected to be conducted in a collaborative fashion in various constellations within the academic community and in interaction with industrial partners, and it will primarily be based on case studies. The post docs are expected to take an important role in collaboration within academia, with industry and with society at large.

The post docs are expected to conduct empirical research as primary activity, but will also be involved in teaching activities at the department. The positions include teaching, in bachelor and master courses, up to 20 percent of the total number of working hours.

Qualifications
To qualify for the postdoctoral position, the applicant must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field of the particular position (such as logistics, supply chain or operations management), and an interest/experience in the topics of the project. The PhD degree should generally not be older than three years. The applicant must have good presentation skills (oral and written) and a proven ability to publish results from research in academic journals. The applicant must also have a proven ability of conducting research in close interaction with industry or other professional organisations.

Meritorious experiences and skills are:
- Access to a well-developed research network as well as a professional network.
- Ability to collaborate.
- Ability and willingness to conduct inter- and transdisciplinary research.
- Experience of collaborations with partners outside academia.

Contract terms
