Work assignments 

You will focus on the construction of multi-scale molecular health and disease network and develop AI-based analytical infrastructures to inform precision medicine-based decision support.

As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.


Qualifications

To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree.  This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.

We are looking for you who have a PhD in the field of bioinformatics and systems biology, or similar field, and must have demonstrated successful completion of projects during the graduate thesis studies.

Practical experience with genetics, multiomics analyzes or systematic bioinformatic techniques is a requirement for the position.

Documented experience with the following techniques/methods is a requirement:

  • Integrative multi-omics analysis
  • Network analysis
  • R/python programming
  • Machine learning methods
  • High performance computing
  • Multivariate analysis

As a person, you are self-motivated and structured. You easily adapt to changing circumstances and find it easy to cooperate with others. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement.


The workplace

You will work at the Division of Cell and Neurobiology (CNB) and belong to Wen Zhong's research group. You will collaborate with doctoral and postdoctoral students, research engineers and experienced clinicians. State-of-the-art facilities and resources, including Berzelius HPC systems, a 300 petaflop NVIDIA SuperPOD resource, multiomics platforms and bioinformatics infrastructures are fully accessible to facilitate the development of data-driven computational tools.

You will work at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) , which is one of the university's largest institutions with activities primarily within the medical faculty. Our goal is to conduct education and research in medicine and biomedicine, with high international quality. At BKV you will find leading research with both cutting edge and breadth within a large spectrum of modern biomedicine.


The employment

This employment is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years.

The employment is full-time.
