At the Department of People and Society, we research and teach environmental psychology, business management and advisory services. The purpose of our work is to create the conditions for sustainable living and working environments in rural and urban areas. We develop and communicate high quality knowledge about people, the environment and business.

The Business Management Group develops knowledge and increases awareness of economically, socially and ecologically sustainable operations and systems in the green sector. We engage with entrepreneurship, leadership and governance across agriculture, forestry and horticulture as well as urban and rural landscapes.

We are expanding research activities in the area of nature-based solutions through new European Union funded projects.

The department is looking for a Post-doctoral Researcher to join the European Union funded research project “ARCADIA” and “UGPplus”.
Duties:

The Post-doctoral Researcher will participate in two European projects on nature-based solutions – ARCADIA and UGPplus.

ARCADIA (TrAnsformative climate ResilienCe by nAture-baseD solutions in the contInentAl bio-geographical region)

In ARCADIA, we aim to galvanise transformative adaptation using nature-based solutions across 8 European regions and provide support in designing consistent regional blue-green infrastructure networks.

The focus in ARCADIA is two main areas of work.

  • Contributing to the vision of and strategy for nature-based transformations in Region Skåne and participation in co-innovation labs.
  • Contributing to consolidating knowledge and developing a framework levering transformative change through nature-based solutions as well as contributing to behavioural change models and strategies to stimulate mindset changes and pro-nature attitudes.

UGPplus (Enhancing Urban Greening Plans to Mainstream Biodiversity in Society)

With UGPplus, we propose a next generation of processes for urban greening plans in European cities as a forward-looking, systemic, integrated, and inclusive planning framework capable of realising meaningful and lasting impacts in bending the curve on biodiversity loss.

The focus in UGPplus is two main areas of work.

  • Contributing to a systematic review of academic and grey literature on urban greening plans and implementation.
  • Contributing to identifying and evaluating existing capacity building programmes and developing the UGPplus capacity building concept as well as leading the developing and running the capacity building programme for UGPplus.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Researcher to actively participate in and lead research activities in two European projects on nature-based solutions.

Required

  • PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a doctorate within a subject area relevant for this position. Candidates who have submitted their PhD dissertation and waiting the final examination are encouraged to apply.)
  • A background in one or a combination of the following scientific areas: sustainability, governance, business or innovation.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Documented experience publishing in peer reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated experience of working cohesively in an inter-disciplinary team environment.
  • An ability to work independently.

Merit

  • Previous experience working on the topic of nature-based solutions.
  • Written and spoken fluency in European languages (e.g. French, German, Spanish).

As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that is three years old at most.
