Offer Description

Do you also think traditional recycling of plastics is not enough? Do you want to contribute to transforming the industry?
At our research group, we're on a mission to revolutionize the industrial production of raw materials, especially plastics.

In collaboration with our industry partners, our dynamic group within the division of Energy Technology is dedicated to pioneering technologies that go beyond conventional recycling methods.

If you're a team player, ready to broaden your expertise in thermo-chemical conversion, and thrilled about turning theory into practical solutions, we have the perfect opportunity for you. Take the next step in your career and be part of a movement that is reshaping the future of industrial production.

Project description
In this project, you will embark on a quest to unravel the secrets of thermo-chemical conversion of heterogeneous waste. Dive deep into the intricacies of the process and shed light on crucial aspects to unlock its industrial implementation, such as the fate of impurities. Engage in the full spectrum of research- from planing to execution and evaluation of experimental campaigns, as well as modelling with tools like Chemkin and FactSage depending on the needs.

In our group, you will have access to our own pilot scale facility for pyrolysis and gasification, as well as to advanced analytics for product characterization. Complementary experimental lab facilities are also available to investigate specific aspects isolated. Contribute to our extensive experience in hydrocarbon characterization by pioneering the development of methods that expand our current analytical capabilities.

Major responsibilities
As a Post-doc researcher you will drive research questions within the scope of our research projects, develop analytical methods, and carry out the research. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing. The position offers the possibility to teach on Chalmers' undergraduate level.

Qualifications
To be eligible as a Post-doc, you must have a PhD degree in a relevant field.

Experimental experience in thermal conversion, experience with gas analysis instruments (e.g. chromatography, FTIR) or experience with kinetic and equilibrium modeling with e.g. Chemkin, FactSage or similar tools is considered a merit.

To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers).
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
