We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the architecture research group at Luleå University of Technology in Luleå. The position is unique and will lead to a much sought-after competence and will give you as a researcher the opportunity to work in a creative research environment both at Luleå University of Technology and in the organizations and companies with which we cooperate.

You will be part of a research group that works with architecture technology and conservation, urban design and planning, and landscape and transport planning (see www.ltu.se/architecture ). You will acquire knowledge and skills and be part of a creative research environment, working in cooperation with industry partners.

Subject description
Architecture comprises building design, urban and traffic planning, where aesthetics is joined with functional, technical, practical, and economic dimensions in relation to people, sustainability, landscape, and the built environment.

Project description
As a Post-Doc, you will be working in the field of architecture, urban and traffic planning and your work will be linked with national and international R&D projects.  The research topics will focus on, but not be limited to, the role of generative AI, VR and metaverse for a shared aesthetic of the green transition.

Qualifications
You should preferably have a PhD in either architecture, engineering, or similar. Priority will be given to those who have completed a doctoral degree at most three years before the end of the application period. The research tasks require a solid knowledge of digital software for advanced digital software for building and urban simulation (e.g., Unity, Rhinoceros-grasshopper and related plugins for generative design, , etc.), Coding for app design in Python, C#, C++, R, Java. You should have a strong vision to evaluate and demonstrate the research findings in real life, in an approach to close the gap between theory and societal challenges.

We are looking for you who can both alone and in cooperation with others carry out advanced research in our research group. You should be a good team-player with a good knowledge of both oral and written English. Knowledge of the Swedish language is not a requirement, but the applicant is encouraged to acquire Swedish language competence through courses offered on campus.

Duties
You will perform research with substantial empirical components that should be published in peer-reviewed international journals and at major conferences. The position will include supervision of PhD and MSc students, teaching and supporting in acquiring funds for future research projects from research funding agencies/councils, EU framework program or industry.

The employment is limited to 1 year with possibility to be extended 1 year. The appointment is planned to start during fall 2023. Location: Luleå
