CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology. CMB is located in Biomedicum, a new interdisciplinary research center designed to concentrate much of the experimental research conducted at Karolinska Institutet Campus Solna under one roof to promote collaboration. Biomedicum houses approximately 1,200 researchers and other personnel and allows expensive equipment to be shared and utilized more effectively

This includes handling human tissue (tissue dissection, cell and nuclei isolation), immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry and confocal microscopy, molecular biology (DNA and RNA isolation, qPCR, protein analyses including western blot and ELISA/Mesoscale), invasion assay and cell and tissue culture.

Entry requirements

To be eligible, an applicant must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedicine, molecular biology or molecular biotechnology
  • Masters degree
  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques, including qPCR, western blot and protein assays
  • Histology and immunocytochemistry techniques and confocal microscopy
