We need to expand our group working within a project aiming to identify pharmacologically active substances from traditional Chinese medicinal plants. This is an exciting and fruitful project with a developed work structure. 


Your mission

You will contribute to extraction of plant material and chemical analyses of components thereof, including isolation and characterization of pure compounds. 


Your profile

We seek a person with interest in plant chemistry, preferably with some knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine. You will be working partly at Karolinska Institutet and partly at Uppsala University. The candidate is required to have a master exam and experience of natural products chemistry/pharmacognosy, experience in methods for extraction and isolation of compounds from plants, experience in working with modern instruments for separation, experience in mass spectrometry and experience in working with electronic lab notebooks. Furthermore, we see that you have experience in a research lab using Waters mass spectrometers and Shimadzu HPLC systems, curating and maintaining chemical libraries and that you are a good team player.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of eleven divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located within the research group Per-Johan Jakobsson https://ki.se/en/meds/team-per-johan-jakobsson. This is a group of about 15 persons which belong to the Division of Rheumatology, working within rheumatology, chronic inflammation and cancer.
