Job description

The laboratory engineer will be part of the Division of Glycoscience at KTH located at AlbaNova University Centre. The Division is an interdisciplinary environment with competencies in molecular biology, biochemistry and materials science for the use of natural polymers (carbohydrates) for the environment and health. The department is also involved in the KTH Food Sustainability Network, which aims to integrate all research activities within food systems at KTH.

The laboratory engineer will assist with the analysis of soluble dietary fibers and metabolites after in vitro fermentation studies using intestinal bacteria. The analyses will involve mainly anion-exchange chromatography and other chromatographic techniques. These analyses are part of the project "Validation of prebiotic and antioxidant effects of wheat bran hemicelluloses in baking products" that KTH is leading, together with Örebro University and Lantmännen.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Student within biotechnology or related fields.     
  • Hands-on experience on laboratory techniques within chemistry or biotechnology.
  • The person is independent, takes initiatives and has a good communication- and collaboration ability.
  • We also see that the person has analytical skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge and skills on carbohydrate analysis and/or chromatographic techniques are desirable.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency
