The Department of Economy and Society at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg announces a position/s as guest Lecturer (hourly) located at unit for Economic History. The department conducts education and research within three different subject areas; Economic History, Human Geography, and Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management of Intellectual Asset. The different subjects within the department create possibilities to carry out interdisciplinary education and research.


Subject

The Unit for Economic History conducts research and education within the field which includes studies economic and social development in a long-run perspective. The studies concern current topics relating to globalisation, the environment, migration and gender from the perspective of economic history. Classical issues relating to economic growth and distribution are also studied. The unit offers doctoral education as well as single-subject courses on Bachelor´s and Master´s level which gives the possibility to complete a Bachelor´s and Master´s degree. Job assignments

The tasks consist of teaching, seminars or supervision at the Unit of economic history, at basic and / or advanced level. Above all, you will teach a course at Master's level in International Migration (English language). In addition, there may be opportunities to teach on other courses as well, especially quantitative methods and course elements that deal with demography, migration and labor market issues. Supervision of student essays may also be included in the tasks.


Qualifications

Employment requires in-depth knowledge of and experience of teaching, especially in migration, demography and quantitative methods. A doctoral degree in economic history or in related areas is considered a merit. In addition to this, great emphasis is placed on the ability to independently plan and structure teaching and supervision. You are expected to have good communication skills in speech and writing in Swedish and English, depending on the educational language of the current course. In addition to the skill assessment, great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and ability to work together. We will consider applicants who, after an overall assessment, are considered to have the best conditions to complete the described tasks.


Employment

The employment refers to hourly employment as agreed during a period that is open between 01.01.2022--31.12.2022. You have an intermittent employment for teaching tasks that take place during this period. In the case of intermittent employment, you are called in and choose to accept the offered job, which then constitutes a new employment relationship on each individual occasion. You also have the right to decline such an offer. Hours worked are reported per calendar month to the employer via the form GU / Timarvode.

The employment is located at the Unit for Economic History, at the department of Economy and Society.
