The position is placed at the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies at The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå, Sweden. Duties:

We are looking for an experienced person to conduct monitoring of eagles on the island of Gotland. The study will take place in collaboration with the county administrative board of Gotland during September & October 2023. The work comprises of both designing and performing an observational study as well as analyzing the collected data on distribution and behaviour. Eagles will be documented using telescopes and binoculars. Territories are located all over the island and therefore work is spread. The employee will be out in the field most days documenting eagle behavior, driving between territories, and entering and analysing data.


Qualifications:

We are looking for a candidate with knowledge of conducting and designing observational studies on raptors with a valid EU driving license. The applicant should have previous experience in identifying bird species, in order to correctly identify eagle species as well as age. Knowledge of handling cameras and QGIS is desired.
