The Vegetation Ecology lab is seeking a number of temporary summer field assistants (”försöksbiträden”) to participate in periodic field work, near Arvidsjaur and Jokkmokk.  The field work will involve conducting sampling and measurement at forest field sites, such as soil sampling, gas exchange measurements, or vegetation surveys.   Field work periods will last several weeks, and may occur in June and/or July.

The work tasks will vary, and the assistant will help with multiple measurement activities, potentially including soil gas exchange measurements, tree inventories, vegetation pinpointing, and soil sampling.  The work will require being outdoors in the forest for the full work day. The job will require overnight stay, and ability to work in a field situation, including occasional rain and biting insects.  Good team working skills is required.

Qualified candidates must be enrolled in a University Degree program, or have completed a University Degree program.  Experience and education in a relevant field is required, such as Biology, Ecology, Forestry, or closely related fields.  The person we look for is flexible, can accommodate schedule changes, and long days in the field. It´s a merit if the applicant have completed or is undertaking the SLU masters program ' Forest Ecology and Sustainable Management' because many of the work tasks will relate to the knowledge and experience obtained in the program.  Candidates should attach a diploma and/or university transcripts covering completed years.
