The University of Borås is a hub for design, development, and business management in the field of textiles. Education and research in the textile field takes place at the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business. The Swedish School of Textiles offers professional development in textile and fashion design, textile management, and textile technology through education at Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral levels, as well as through research in close collaboration with local, national, and global textile and fashion industry entities. Creativity, knowledge, and innovation converge at the Swedish School of Textiles. Our unique lab environments and competencies relate to the majority of the textile value chain. Our close collaboration with both business and industry shapes our educational programmes and as a result, the Swedish School of Textiles is at the core of supplying the knowledge needed in the textile industry. Here, design, engineering, technology, production, business administration, and marketing meet, and that is why our textile research, textile innovation, and textile educational programmes are so strong. This makes the Swedish School of Textiles unique in Europe as well as an internationally recognised educational environment for its work towards a more sustainable textile value chain within textile management.  The research group Textile Value Chain Management (TVCM) focuses on the development of industry structures and business models in textile and fashion companies that enable sustainable value creation for the industry, the environment, and society at large.
