The workplace

At the division of information systems and digitalization (INDIG) we work with developing knowledge that aims to contribute to the understanding of IT systems and digitalization processes in different contexts and thereby contribute to knowledge about how IT systems are developed and used by people in organizations and in society. The interaction between humans, IT systems and organizations - within both companies and public organizations - is thus essential. Our profiling within the subject of informatics/information systems means that our interest is especially directed towards analysis, design, change and management of activities where IT systems are included or expected to be included. The interaction between theoretical and practical knowledge is also an essential part of the activity-oriented perspective.

At the division there are good opportunities for research that is theoretically well-grounded and relevant for practitioners, as well as teaching and pedagogically oriented R&D. For more than 15 years, research on digitalization of the public sector (the e-government area) has been a cornerstone of our division. At the division, several research projects are conducted in this area, both the public sector’s IT, service and business development, and projects at the societal level in the form of e.g. development of smart grids and the role of digitalization in such contexts. Not infrequently, different development initiatives are studied from policy and strategy level, via implementation, to practice. Within our business, a creative and open environment is offered, where there is room for creativity, responsibility and authority.
