The research unit Industrial Marketing is a part of the Department of Business Administration, Technology and Social Sciences, which has approximately 200 employees who conduct research and education in social sciences as well as in technical areas. The Industrial Marketing unit has an important role in all the university's business programs and in the MSc program in Industrial Management and Engineering. Teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish. Within the unit, we are currently working with research projects in areas such as sustainable tourism, employer branding, and industrial buying behaviour and selling. We are therefore in need of recruiting an associate professor to support the unit’s continued development within both education and research.

Subject description
Industrial Marketing involves activities and processes for creating, communicating, and delivering value to customers and other stakeholders. This includes marketing of goods, services, and information between organizations and their customers. Marketing across international borders and in digital channels are areas of particular importance for the subject, as well as services marketing, tourism, and branding.

As an associate professor, you will be involved in both education and research. You will be responsible for developing and implementing courses in marketing and international business at the undergraduate and master’s level, as well as supervising theses and doctoral dissertations. You are expected to keep updated about international developments within the area of marketing, participate in research projects, communicate results via academic publications and in popular science contexts, and overall be an active part in the research community within the marketing area. An important part of the position is also to work to ensure that the Industrial Marketing unit receives external research funding. Moreover, as an associate professor, you are expected to contribute to the university's development work and be able to take on managerial and administrative assignments.

Persons qualified for appointment as Associate Professor if they: displayed both scientific and pedagogical proficiency. As much attention should be given to the assessment of pedagogical proficiency as to the scientific proficiency. In order to meet the requirements for the position of Associate Professor, the applicant should have:

  • been active as an independent researcher, normally for at least three years after completing the doctoral degree
  • conducted nationally or internationally recognized research in collaboration with actors outside the own university, and shown a research profile with clear progression after the dissertation. This includes a total scientific production that corresponds to at least two doctoral dissertations
  • demonstrated documented experience in supervising at the third-cycle level and, unless there are special grounds, should have been the assistant supervisor for at least one doctoral student for at least two years
  • demonstrated documented pedagogical proficiency and sound collaboration with the surrounding community in educational contexts for the purpose of contributing to the relevance of the education and preparation for working life
  • completed education in university pedagogy equivalent to 7.5 credits or, alternatively, acquired equivalent knowledge

Assessment Criteria
The following assessment criteria are applied for the position:

  • scientific proficiency
  • pedagogical proficiency

Additional assessment criteria (weighted equally):

  • ability to obtain external research funding
  • ability to collaborate with the surrounding community
  • ability to disseminate information about research
  • administrative proficiency that is of importance in view of the subject content and the duties that are included in the appointment
  • experience of different teaching modes (online and classroom-based)
  • knowledge in the application and teaching of quantitative research methods

The applicant should have good communication and cooperation skills and be able to teach in English. In a longer-term perspective, the applicant should be able to teach in Swedish. We also value personal characteristics that are important for the development of the research subject.

In addition, other objective grounds such as the university’s gender equality goals should be taken into account.
