Assistant Senior Lecturer in Higher education pedagogy

We are currently seeking a skilled educator with an interest in educational development and faculty development for a permanent full-time position as an assistant senior lecturer (assisterande lektor). 

The position is located in the division of higher education pedagogy , where we work with a broad spectrum of pedagogical themes, ranging from student learning to course and program design, examination, assessment, guidance, and evaluation of educational quality.


Your mission

We are seeking a professional interested in student-centered learning who can support our teachers in creating engaging, well-functioning, and meaningful teaching sessions, courses, and educational programs. With your expertise in pedagogy and your ability to facilitate development work, you contribute to an exciting interdisciplinary collaboration characterized by diverse experiences and competencies, as well as high academic and pedagogical ambition. We consider your role crucial for the unit. You strive for development, stay updated with the latest educational research findings, and actively contribute to the unit’s and division’s work. Your responsibilities include leading and implementing professional development initiatives, collaborating with colleagues, and enhancing the overall educational experience. Teaching tasks include course responsibility, teaching, assessment, evaluation, and course development. Producing educational materials and initiating educational activities are natural parts of the work.


Description of the subject area 

The subject area encompasses higher education pedagogy, medical education, and faculty development. As an assistant senior lecturer it is essential to stay abreast of developments in higher education research, apply research findings and proven experience, and contribute to the unit’s research-based way of working. Expectations include the ability to seek and utilize knowledge within the broad subject area of higher education pedagogy, with an opportunity to cultivate one’s own areas of interest within the field.


Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for an employment as Assistant Senior Lecturer the applicant must have demonstrated scientific expertise and completed a doctoral degree in a subject area relevant for the duties. In addition to the doctoral thesis the applicant must have published at least three scientific peer reviewed publications. The applicant must partially meet the requirements for excellent teaching experience and expertise and have shown good pedagogical independence. The applicant shall also have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education (or have equivalent competence), as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution.

 It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Deep and broad competences in pedagogy.
  • Extensive pedagogical experience of various forms of teaching
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

 Experience and education in higher education pedagogy or in medical and health care education.

  • Independent responsibility for planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching and examination at first, second, or third cycle level or in continuous education – to a significant extent and with documented high quality.
  • Pedagogical management assignments, for example as course director
  • Completed, nationally and internationally presented pedagogical development work resulting in improved study programs and/or courses.
  • Documented activity in higher education pedagogical research.
  • Experience in working with various digital teaching tools.
  • Good ability to express themselves both orally and in writing in Swedish
