Description of the workplace
The research group Molecular Metabolism conducts research aimed at understanding why the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas do not function properly in type 2 diabetes. The research has been at the forefront of the field for several years. A major focus has been on molecular processes that regulate metabolic and genetic changes in the beta cell during the disease. The group is headed by Professor Hindrik Mulder and Associate Professor Malin Fex and contains several postdocs as well as technical staff. The group is located at CRC in Malmö.

Duties and responsibilities
Carry out advanced scientific studies in the laboratory. Cultivating primary cells, clonal cells and stem cells. Supervision of, for example, students in the field of islet-research. Write applications for research grants and produce scientific articles.
Qualifications
The employment requires:
- Ph.D. in Medical Science.
- Experience in islet-cell research.
- Metabolomics experience.
- Published articles in renowned scientific journals.
- Received grants in international competition.
- Presented research at international scientific congresses.
- Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities, such as: Good flexibility and communication (both written and verbal). The candidate should be solution-oriented and enjoy working in a team with many different nationalities.
Additional qualifications for the position are:
- Previous postdoctoral experience
- Knowledge in cell culturing (clonal insulin cells and stem cells)
- Be familiar with measurements and analyses of cellular oxidative consumption rate
- Perform metabolomics analyses
- Bioinformatics and analysis of data from databases

The employment is a fixed-term employment (SÄVA) under the period 2024-09-09 until 2025-08-31(100 %).
