The Department of Physics at Stockholm University is announcing a tenure track position in in Experimental astroparticle physics with focus on quantum sensing. This involves the study of fundamental particle physics by means of direct astrophysical observations with focus on the use of instruments and techniques that operate at or below the quantum limit.

Work Environment

The Department of Physics at Stockholm University is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Science and supports a broad range of basic research in experimental and theoretical physics. It has about 250 employees, of which 95 are PhD students. Many have been internationally recruited. The Department is part of the AlbaNova University Center, which apart from the Department of Physics houses the Department of Astronomy, the Physics Departments at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), and the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics (Nordita).

Members of the department are also part of the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics, a rich scientific environment that comprises more than a hundred researchers working in both theory and experiment. For more information: Oskar Klein Centre

Additional information
The Stockholm University Physics Department is involved in multiple theoretical and experimental endeavors in astroparticle physics with special focus on dark matter detection. In particular, members of the department are engaging in an international effort, ALPHA, to realize an axion dark matter detector based on a tunable longitudinal plasmonic resonator concept.

The position includes funds that support the hiring of a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD student, and significant experimental infrastructure.

Female applicants are particularly welcome, as most teachers at the department are men.
