The department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology is one of the largest departments of mathematical sciences in the Nordic countries with about 200 employees. The department comprises the three divisions Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

We are looking for an adjunct senior lecturer in Mathematical Sciences with a focus on Data Science. The successful candidate will be a teacher with course responsibility for courses in undergraduate education at the advanced level and will be a supervisor of degree projects. The goal of the recruitment is to strengthen the competence in Data science, where there is a great need in the education, and to strengthen the collaboration with industry partners.

The tasks will be in the mathematical sciences with a focus on Data science.

Job assignments
The tasks mainly consist of supervision of degree projects and teaching of courses at the advanced level in Data science and related areas.

Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. We expect you to have a doctorate in mathematics or mathematical statistics, or equivalent scientific competence with regard to the subject content of the employment and the tasks included in the employment. You are also expected to have experience of working in Data science to a sufficient extent to be able to supervise degree projects and provide courses at advanced level in the field.

Assessment
Assessment criteria for employment as an adjunct senior lecturer are stated in the University of Gothenburg's employment regulations. The selection is carried out on the basis of an overall assessment of the applicants' submitted documents. Applicants are ranked on the basis of an overall assessment of skill and development potential. When appointing, the applicant's personal qualities required to fulfill the tasks, collaborate with other staff and contribute to the development of the business will also be taken into account.

Employment
Employment as an adjunct teacher aims for the university to be able to conduct teaching and research based on such experience and skills that can not be acquired only within the framework of employment at the university. An adjunct teacher must have his or her main activity outside the higher education system. This employment as an adjunct teacher must therefore be approved in advance by your main employer and presupposes that financing of the employment and costs within it are agreed between the employers before appointment.
