The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on cancer, autoimmune and genetic diseases. A fundamental idea at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby closer interactions between medical research and health care. Research is presently conducted in the following areas: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration and vascular biology. Department activities are also integrated with the units for Oncology, Clinical Genetics, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Pathology, and Hospital Physics at Akademiska sjukhuset, Uppsala. The department has teaching assignments in several education programmes, including Master Programmes, at the Faculty of Medicine, and at the Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology. The department has a yearly turnover of around SEK 500 million, out of which more than half is made up of external funding. The staff amounts to approximately 345 employees, out of which 100 are PhD-students, and there are in total more than 700 affiliated people. SciLifeLab (www.scilifelab.se ) is a hub for life science research in Sweden and a collaboration between Swedish universities. Everyone at SciLifeLab is employed at one of the partner universities. Since 2013, SciLifeLab is assigned by the Swedish government to operate national infrastructure, to provide cutting-edge life science technologies and -expertise to Swedish researchers, and to be a top international centre for research in health- and environment sciences. SciLifeLab is also hosting a national COVID-19 research program and a new large research programme for Data-Driven Life Sciences (DDLS), with eleven partner organisations.

The successful candidate will be working at the SciLifeLab Data Centre, a central unit within SciLifeLab with responsibility for IT- and data management issues, serving the SciLifeLab and the Data Driven Life Science (DDLS) research program. We have a national assignment and, for example, operate the Swedish national Covid-19 research data portal. We also work with issues about FAIR data and open science, and in close collaboration with major national and international partners. Working at the Data Centre, you will be at the core of Sweden’s top infrastructure for life sciences and have the opportunity to actively shape how state-of-the-art IT and data science are integrated in Swedish life science research, and help to maximize the scientific impact of the large amount of research data generated at SciLifeLab. You will work in a team with researchers, data engineers, data stewards and system developers in a rapidly growing, dynamic and progressive team with a leading role in Swedish data-driven life science.

This position can be placed either at our central data platform in Uppsala or Stockholm (SciLifeLab Campus Solna) but also possible at other SciLifeLab sites in Gothenburg, Linköping, Lund or Umeå.

Job description
SciLifeLab Data Centre is looking for motivated and knowledgeable Data stewards, to join our Data management team. As a data steward, you are expected to participate in user support and development of data services, with a focus on research data management following the FAIR principles, metadata management and data curation, communication with users, and training activities.
You will be working with data from genomics, proteomics, chemical biology and other technologies, and in a responsive way support projects to continuously make available data, code, methods and results. You will also support projects with technical solutions, services and advice to maintain the highest possible quality in research data management, as well as support a collaborative and open way of working. Meta data management is of particular importance for this role, including information about sample preparation and biomaterial, experimental processing and production of raw data. Health data management, often in collaboration with clinical partners, is an important area and we are particularly looking for data stewards with interest and experience in this field.
As a data steward, you will work directly with data management through support to different projects and activities, but also by working with engineers and developers to develop data services for the field.

Qualifications
This job requires a university degree in a relevant area. In addition is required:
- Documented experience from working with data management, FAIR and Open Science
- Documented experience in coordination and communication, as well as documentation of ongoing work
- Documented experience in bioinformatics or life science research
- Fluent in English

Meriting
- Knowledge or interest in biomedical research and infrastructure.
- Knowledge about software systems used in the life science field
- Ability to work both individually and in cooperation with personnel in widely different fields.
- Drive and initiative to support and develop data driven life science in Sweden.
- Experience in training
- Experience from support roles, meta data management, data curation or work with semantic standards
- Knowledge about health data or other sensitive data management, data access management, and clinical research
- Ability to communicate in Swedish
