The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in three main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Child and Maternal Health, and Urban Health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases. Context and Mission

We are recruiting an enthusiastic, self-motivated post-doctoral researcher with strong quantitative analysis skills to join our dynamic team. The researcher will work in the project Urban Burden of Disease Estimation for Policy Making (UBD Policy , GA 101094639) funded by the European Union’s, Horizon Europe Framework Programme (HORIZON).

UBD Policy aims to improve the estimation of health and well-being impacts and socio-economic costs of major urban environmental hazards. 

The postdoctoral researcher will develop and lead the scientific aspects of the study, specifically around the case city study interventions and supervise other scientific work in the project. S/he will, amongst others, write study protocols, monitor progress and write scientific papers.  S/he will report to the project coordinator. 

The researcher would be embedded in the large, international, inter-disciplinary UBD Policy consortium, benefitting from the networking and training opportunities for early-career researchers implemented through both projects.

Skills/Qualifications
  • Good interpersonal, communication, presentation, and academic writing skills and ability to work independently.

Specific Requirements
  • PhD (or equivalent) in epidemiology, environmental health, biostatistics or related discipline 
  • Demonstrated record of scientific achievement in epidemiology or environmental health; 
  • Experience with statistical analysis and managing complex data in R 
  • Excellent quantitative and programming skills
  • Motivated, self-directed researcher capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering research outputs 
  • Strong organization and team-working skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Selection process

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
