The Department of Information and Communications Technologies of the public Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, invites applications for a tenure track faculty position. 

The candidate should hold a PhD and have a strong background  in all areas of Complexity and Quantum Computation, which integrate well with the educational and research needs of departament.

The candidate should demonstrate outstanding experience in outreach and knowledge transfer to other institutions, companies and the public sector.

Teaching excellence will be highly considered (such as proved through students' evaluations, etc.), as well as expertise in engineering courses in Complexity and Quantum Computation, Information Theory, Automata Theory, Theory of Computation, Mathematics for Engineering.

Previous experience in professional service will also be valued, as the candidate might be required to assume some management responsibilities.

Gross annual salary: 41.439,86€

Skills/Qualifications

1. The candidate must have a solid research track record and show the promise of excellence in teaching. Teaching excellence will be highly valued, as well as teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate subjects and courses related to Complexity and Quantum Computation, Information Theory, Automata Theory, Theory of Computation, Mathematics for Engineering. 

2. The candidate must have a strong track record in all areas of Complexity and Quantum Computation that integrate well with the educational and research needs of the department. For example, publications in JCR Q1-indexed journals, and at leading conferences on “Complexity and Quantum Computation” topics, and to have previous experience collaborating with international researchers on publications or competitive research projects. Aspects of scientific excellence such as the impact of the candidate's publications, as first author, will be highly valued. Important aspects are Marie-Curie individual scholarships, Serra Húnter Excellence programs. Certificate I3, and Consolidation Scholarships.

3. Although the priority is the Degree in Computer Engineering, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in other areas that complement well with the department's research (in multimedia, biomedical engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital systems of audiovisual technologies, or data science). 

4. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to attract external funding and the potential to secure partnerships or consultancies with the private sector. It is desirable that the candidate demonstrates leading research projects with social and economic impact.

5. It will be positively assessed if the candidate has a minimum of two years of previous professional experience abroad, and if he has participated in at least one competitive research project as principal investigator.

6. The candidate must demonstrate outstanding experience in the dissemination and transfer of knowledge to other institutions, companies and the public sector.
