THE INSTITUTE OF BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH OF MALAGA AND NANOMEDICINE PLATFORM NEEDS TO HIRE A PROFESSIONAL WITH THE FOLLOWING PROFILE: SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

Coordinating Researcher: Francisco J. Tinahones Madueño.

Principal Investigator: Francisco J. Tinahones Madueño.

Venue: IBIMA BIONAND Platform / Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital.

Research Group: A-02 Obesity, Diabetes and their Comorbidities: Prevention and Treatment.

Project/Research Line: Grant FORT23/00013 funded by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII). Strengthens Program of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

Functions to be developed  :

Cross-cutting tasks in the scientific area “Cardiovascular diseases, obesity and diabetes. Environmental determinants and lifestyle” and as transversal support to the lines of research that we develop in collaboration with the rest of the IBIMA groups:

• Management of inventories, supplies and equipment of the different laboratories.
• Preparation of reagents and samples following established protocols.
• Processing of biological samples (serum, plasma and white blood cells, feces and tissue).
• Instrumental analysis.
• Nucleic acid extraction and RNA RT-qPCR.
• Preparation of libraries amplifying 16S ribosomal RNA for the characterization of the composition of the microbiota using the Ion Chef™ System equipment and massive sequencing with the Ion Torrent S5 equipment.
• Helps in data collection.
• Regular maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure its accuracy and proper operation.
• Making a detailed record of experiments and results.
• Collaboration in research projects.
• Training and orientation of new students.

Minimum requirements :

• Higher Technician in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory or similar.

Valuable Requirements :

• Demonstrable professional experience in biomedical laboratories: 1 point for every 6 months up to a maximum of 2 points.
• Experience in molecular biology techniques, nucleic acid extraction (miRNA, RNA, DNA) and RT-qPCR: 1 point.
• Experience in the preparation of 16S ribosomal RNA libraries in feces using the Ion Chef™ System equipment: 1 point.
• Knowledge and management of databases (SPSS, Diraya): 1 point.
• Participation in endocrinology and nutrition clinical trials: 0.5 points per trial up to a maximum of 1 point.
• Participation in research projects, research articles and contributions to conferences: 0.1 points per contribution to conferences, 0.3 points per research article and 0.5 points per research project up to a maximum of 1 point.

The aforementioned requirements must be accredited by means of a certificate from a competent body or a responsible declaration.

Contract details :

• Contracting modality: Contract for scientific-technical activities. (art. 23 bis of the Science and Technology Law Law 14/2011).
• Category: Technical.
• Location: IBIMA BIONAND Platform / Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital.
• Gross annual remuneration: €18,904
• Time: Full time (35 hours per week).
• Estimated duration: 24 months – The contract is linked to the duration of the project / activity / financing.

Selection process :

• Based on the points obtained in the merit assessment, at least the three best candidates will be selected to carry out a personal interview in which communication skills, aptitude for work and skills will be assessed, with a maximum of 3 points. . Only those candidates who obtain at least 50% of the evaluable merit points will be eligible for the interview phase.
• After the resolution of the position and in the event that the selected candidate resigns from the contract, the hiring table may decide to decide in favor of the next candidate according to the list of scores.
