The mission of the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is to achieve the highest level of scientific and technological excellence in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Its research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 comprises 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Job Title: Strategic and Open Science Initiatives Coordinator (internal promotion)

Description of Group/Project:

"Led by Dr Margarita Navia, this office works to provide a response to the different challenges faced by the institute on the short and long term, addressing issues at the national and international level to improve institute's responsiveness to an ever-changing global context. It oversees the development of the strategic plan, coordinates institutional projects like the Severo Ochoa Programme and provides advanced research development support to the ICN2 research community.

It works in close collaboration with both the research community and the administration departments, as well as the external collaboration network of the institute, and aims to bring insight and strategic manpower to research activities, hot topics like research data management, and ongoing initiatives to support the ICN2 in becoming a world-leading research institute."        

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead the Open Science Committee and coordinate its actions.
  • Technical Management of competitive strategic and institutional projects, such as Severo Ochoa seal of excellence
  • Coordinate ICN2 actions in Open Data, Open Access and ICN2 publication policy
  • Coordinate the ICN2 data management roadmap, both for internal data and research data; including coordination of training actions
  • Represent ICN2 in Open Science and Strategic associations, national and international.
  • Support the SD head in new strategic initiatives.
  • Nurture the ICN2 intranet cross cutting topics space with specific support material for competitive proposals.
  • Severo Ochoa Project Management and follow up activities.

Requirements:

  • Education:
  • Business Administration university degree or equivalent
  • Strategic information management master's degree or equivalent
  • Specific project management training
  • Knowledge and professional experience:
  • Deep knowledge of the European, Spanish, and international research systems.
  • Deep knowledge of the European, Spanish, and Catalan research funding schemes.
  • Large experience in managing European, Spanish, and Catalan research grants.
  • Expertise in Open Science and its application in research performing organisations.
  • Good knowledge and capacity to advise in research data management for researchers.
  • Expertise in ethics and research integrity advise for researchers.
  • Good command in English, Spanish and Catalan, both written and spoken; additional European languages will be an asset
  • Expert user of IT tools, including Office 365, SAP BO and Adobe; knowledge of AI tools will be an asset.
  • Proficiency level of English.
  • 20 years of professional experience in the research management field

  • Ability to produce documents, such as text, presentations and dashboards.
  • Ability to produce and control budgets.
  • Ability to create and monitor performance indicators.

  • Capacity to build group cohesion.
  • Human relationships facilitator, abroad and between the area and the rest of the institute.

Summary of conditions:

  • Full time work (37,5h/week)
  • Contract Length: Permanent
  • Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
  • Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
