In TECNALIA we want to strengthen our research team around "Building products and additive printing for mortars and concretes", whose mission is to induce new business opportunities derived from the new challenges that the cement industry and mortar manufacturers must face and concrete during the green, climate and digital transitions until 2050.

We work on solutions for cement-based products that are more efficient in the use of resources, with a lower carbon footprint, with new functionalities, with greater traceability throughout the value chain of building or civil works and adapted to new advanced manufacturing processes , such as additive printing. We have one of the largest laboratories for 3D printing in mortars and concretes at the national level that allows the printing of unique pieces adapted to the needs of the client. We respond to challenges related to additive manufacturing, along with other challenges related to the closing of cycles of potentially usable material resources in construction, the decarbonization of cement and its products, as well as digitization to guarantee greater efficiency in the different stages of the productive value chain. Eco-innovation, the science of cement-based materials, as well as the automation and intelligence of manufacturing processes take center stage to achieve higher levels of eco-efficiency and customization of cement-based products.

To strengthen the team, we wish to incorporate a Senior Researcher with a solid technological background in the aforementioned fields and demonstrable experience of 3-5 years in complex research projects, capable of responding to the problems, challenges and opportunities that he faces. the construction sector and its value chain.

What will you do

You will carry out research tasks and achieve R + D + i projects in the national and international industrial field.

You will participate in Research and development projects aimed at the development of new, more eco-efficient and personalized cement-based products through additive printing.

You will support in experimental work; especially, linked to the additive concrete manufacturing laboratory. You will carry out a continuous surveillance on the state of the art / market.

You will generate new ideas / concepts of technological development and You will identify new business opportunities in the area of ​​interest.

You will prepare applied research and development proposals for national and international companies, as well as European proposals (Horizon Europe), etc.

You will negotiate with the European Commission and with clients seeking their loyalty and the consolidation of alliances. You will carry out commercial actions and enhancement of R&D in accordance with TECNALIA's commercial plan. You will solve challenges prioritized by clients.

You will identify new technological trends for the cement, mortar and concrete sector. You will contribute to the generation of scientific indicators, such as publications, patents or the sale of intellectual property.

Requirements

Education: Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or similar. The doctorate in the field of the vacancy or being studying the doctorate and ensuring the achievement of it in a period of less than 2 years will be highly valued.

Technical experience: In at least 3 of the following technological lines:

- Cement-based additive printing (material, product and process).

- Calculation of structures and topological optimization of structural products

- Science of cement-based materials. Mortar and concrete manufacturing technology.

- Programming and use of robotics and control applied to the construction sector.

- Eco-innovation in cement-based materials and circular economy solutions Industrial cyber-physical environments and programming.

Management Experience: A profile with demonstrable research experience aimed at solving complex problems is sought. Experience in large international projects will be an asset.

Languages: High level of spoken and written English. Knowledge of French will be highly valued.

Personal skills Interpersonal skills, ability to function in a multidisciplinary environment and with a spirit of teamwork, conflict resolution. Ability to dialogue with clients and collaborators. Goal-oriented and self-sufficient work style (teamwork maintaining and promoting collaboration between the different areas of the company, achievement of project objectives, scientific objectives, hybridization of technologies.)
