OFFER DESCRIPTION
Are you passionate about hydraulic engineering and their application to solve environmental problems? Did you have a engineering degree (or even a master's degree or a PhD) where hydraulic engineering was one of the core subjects? Are you enthusiastic about applying what you've learned to the environmental sector? Then, continue reading...We are recruiting a hydraulic engineer in our research team. ICRA is an international reference center (top 10) in the study of the urban water cycle with 100 employees. We currently have more than 20 national and international projects underway with multidisciplinary teams. If you are the selected candidate, you will join the national project GiroNat (funded by the Next Generation Programme), which aims to bring nature to our cities. You will be in charge of the development of a hydraulic mathematical model (using SWMM) of the sewer system of Girona; the model then will be used to simulate strategies to reduce water runoff to the sewers and strategies to reduce combined sewer overflows to rivers during rain events. There is an initial version of the model but needs to be expanded to cover hot spots in the Girona sewer network. You will join a team of 1 environmental engineer, 3 environmental scientists, 1 geographer and 1 computer scientist. You will learn to apply your theoretical knowledge on hydraulic engineering to a real case study that generates local impact in Girona, and you will receive training in experimental analysis, programming and process optimization. This is a period during which you will gain experience in a reference research center with excellent international connections.
KEY DUTIES
You will be in charge of the development of a hydraulic model that allows to simulate flows in sewers of urban areas.
