Research Support Technician for Project and Construction Engineering150-758-015

Updated: about 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 07 Feb 2022

This position advertisement belongs to LIFE NANOHEALTH project. The main objective of the LIFE NANOHEALTH project is to reduce occupational exposure to process-generated nanoparticles (PGNP) from permanently releasing industrial processes by optimising the performance of Risk Management Measures in indoor exposure scenarios. The aim is to clearly define the levels of concentration and risks posed by PGNP generated in industrial processes, as well as develop models for simulating the dispersion of PGNP in indoor air and draw up engineering measures for minimising PGNP in industrial environments.

The project will contribute to meeting EU legislation on health and safety of workers regarding the risk of nanomaterials at work in a cost-effective way, providing policy makers, authorities, professionals and workers with a set of tools and technologies that will offer adequate solutions for addressing these risks.

The technician will develop and validate a software tool with four functionalities: mapping of PGNP concentrations; identification of PGNP hotspots in industrial plants; selection of optimal risk management measures for minimising occupational exposures; and quantification of the effectiveness of these measures (the tool will be more than 75% accurate).

functions:

Develop and validate models for simulating the dispersion of PGNP in indoor air. Develop a web app to carry out a risk assessment using the developed models.
