The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Financial Project Management Technician. This position will be funded by NEXT-ICIQ project GPE2022-00953, funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033.
ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: SustainableCatalysis, Renewable Energy and Health. The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programs to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (full details on http://www.iciq.org/ ).
ICIQ is looking for a Financial Project Management technician to carry out top-level financial project management services from the Grant Agreement Preparation (GAP) stage until a project’s closure. The successful candidate will be able to offer a range of advice, support and financial project management servicer fir regional, national and EU funded projects including working in close collaboration with ICIQ researchers, scientific managers and research administration ensuring the successful implementation of the projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) with the financial management of European research projects.
- Carry out the management of a portfolio of funded R&D projects with regards to all administrative, contractual and financial matters.
- Check and monitor budget expenditure both at project and partner organisations’ level.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed interim and final financial reports.
- Project Coordination: Monitor the progress of expenditure of the project, anticipate possible problems, excellent communication with the PI and the project officer and participate in consortium meetings.
- Maintain a full awareness of ICIQ’s policies in relation to broader research and innovation related issues.
- Liaise with the Research Projects and International Collaborations Unit, Administrative support Unit, Human Resources Unit and Finance Department on matters relating to policy and procedure.
- Support the work of the Head of the Research Projects and Grants Management Unit as and when necessary.
Requirements
- University Degree
- Excellent organisation, communication (both oral and written) and time management skills
- Advanced level of English, Catalan and Spanish (written and spoken) is required
- Ability to work on strict deadlines and deliver high quality results
- Open-minded, highly dynamic and capable of working independently as well as in a team
- Good IT knowledge (Microsoft Office, SAP BO)
- Great attention to detail
- Proactive and enthusiastic personality
- Availability for occasionally travelling in Europe/Spain
Valued qualities:
- Experience on financial project management, particularly EU funded research collaborative projects, regional and national research projects funded by the AEI
- Experience dealing with audit requirements would be beneficial

Selection Process
ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases:

- Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
- Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
