Contract Duration: 43 months in total: 23 months + 20 months after the end of the first contract.
Start date: Ideally in April 2024, or subject to availability

We are offering a position in research at the Institute for Economics, Geography and Demography (IEGD), Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), in the research group on "Agro-Food Systems and Territorial Development", a leading group on sustainability transitions in food systems. The position will be linked to pioneering research projects on sustainable food systems in Europe.

The position will be located in CSIC's Center for Social Sciencies and Humanities (Madrid), beginning in April the 15th of 2024, and for approx. 43 months (see details in attached file). Principal Investigators of the projects will be Soledad Cuevas and Daniel López, both researchers at IEGD-CSIC. We are open to discussing options for researchers to develop a PhD as part of their involvement in both projects.

Skills/Qualifications

The project requires the support of personnel who can contribute full dedication to the tasks of WP4 of FOODCITYBOOST and WPs 5, 7, and 8 of AGROECOLOGY, including mapping and analysis of policies and narratives, mapping and evaluation of agroecological living labs, participatory processes of policy co-creation and promotion of agroecological transitions at landscape and food system scales, formulation of new research projects, and drafting dissemination materials and communication of results, including scientific articles. The nature of the tasks requires the hiring of qualified and experienced research support staff, with specific skills and knowledge in the methodologies and themes they will work on. Hence, the chosen profile should showcase expertise and background in subjects such as agroecology, organic agriculture, food policies, food justice, food systems, political ecology, sustainable urban development, or other pertinent fields for the projects. Furthermore, it would be advantageous to opt for interdisciplinary profiles equipped with proficiency and practical experience in diverse methodologies for data gathering and analysis. These methodologies encompass participatory techniques, group facilitation, qualitative social research methods (e.g., interviews, focus groups), and/or quantitative approaches (e.g., surveys, statistical analysis).
