Offer Description

VHIR offers a vacancy for a research associate in biobanking within the Rheumatology Research Group and the IMID-Biobank.

Main responsibilities and duties

  • Lead the research of cutting-edge technology and techniques applicable to biobanking based on emerging interests in biomedical research
  • New protocol development and implementation on sample collection and sample processing methods, mainly related to cutting-edge omic-based approaches
  • Identify promising new concepts in scientific publications applicable to biobanking
  • Benchmark on biobanking procedures and workflows
  • Set up of new operational procedures in the biobank directory
  • Review current SOPs to identify areas for improvement
  • Assist in biobanking and key lab operations

Education and qualifications

  • PhD in the field of biosciences

Experience and knowledge

Required:

  • 4 years of work experience
  • Experience in cellular and molecular biology assays
  • Background in immunology, molecular and cellular biology and analytical techniques
  • Knowledge and experience in omic technologies applications (i.e. single cell technologies, RNAseq, proteomics…)
  • Knowledge and experience in tissue collection, processing and analysis  Significant experience in troubleshooting, method development, and optimization of biology assays
  • Proven ability to write SOPs and train others to successfully perform the work
  • Experience in quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001 environments)
  • Good computer skills, basic knowledge in bioinformatic and statistical analysis
  • Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English (written and spoken)
  • Good writing and communication skills
