Research assistant on Citizen Science

The OpenSystems research group from the Universitat de Barcelona welcomes applications for a one year Research Assistant position. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with interest in citizen science in general.

The fellowship is offered by OpenSystems, a multidisciplinary group founded in 2012 of the University of Barcelona that focuses on public participation as a core element of the way of doing science. The group is a leading entity on the emerging field of Citizen Science in Barcelona and Spain and being more specific. The group belongs to Universitat de Barcelona Institute of Complex Systems (UBICS) and Complexity Lab Barcelona. OpenSystems works together with many actors and build tailored-made research collectives to address concerns mostly grounded in urban contexts.

Suitable candidate will be actively contributing in the Research Pilot of the Catalonia cluster in the project EU H2020 TRANSFORM (https://www.transform-project.eu ).TRANSFORM is putting RRI principles into practice through new forms of local participatory decision-making within their Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3). The Catalan cluster will deepen this perspective using three approaches:Collective mapping, Co-creation dynamics of innovative citizen science tools, Participatory design of innovative systems for the selective collection of municipal waste. The findings will provide good examples on how to transform regional research and innovation into responsible research and innovation by means of citizen science practices.

The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with other groups worldwide on citizen science within the scope of data science, complex systems science and social science.
