Offer Description

We are seeking to recruit a research assistant for the development of the CATA-Earth project of the UOC's Faculty of Health Sciences.

The aim of the CATA-Earth project is to build capacity to design and deliver innovative, community-driven planetary health courses in climate change vulnerable regions of Asia, and to create a new generation of change agents with knowledge and skills in planetary health. This is achieved by using ‘Community Engaged Learning’ and ‘Challenge-*Based Learning’ and a ‘Co-*Design, Co-*Develop and Co-*Deliver’ approach to involve non-academic stakeholders at all stages. Project outcomes include the development of a planetary health education framework and toolkit that will result in four accredited planetary health courses in higher education institutions and a massive open online course (MOOC), each incorporating the priorities of students, businesses and local communities and aligned with regional socio-economic and environmental challenges. These courses will be delivered to at least 80 students over the life of the project. The four training of trainers programmes will create a pool of over 40 academic professors and community leaders to deliver a global health curriculum to partner regions. The conceptual framework, toolkit and a knowledge repository accessible to all outputs and resources will support the widespread exploitation of CATA-Earth outputs to other Asian regions and beyond, thereby increasing the visibility of Global Health and the essential role of innovative, community-driven higher education.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily project activities related to WP1 (Community-*Driven Planetary Health Education Framework and Toolkit) and WP3 (Train he trainer), which are co-led by the UOC, including the development of content and the execution of tasks assigned by these other WPs.
  • Monitor deadlines for deliverables and produce official reports on schedule together with the research team.
  • Carry out communication tasks with the other project partners and organise meetings between the co-lead WPs members and between the different project partners.
  • Liaise with the coordinating partner of the project to bring on the day all the necessary information from WP1 and WP3.

The successful candidate will be awarded a temporary contract for thirty-one months at 25% of full time, starting in May 2024.

The reference headquarters will be located at 22@, Rbla. Del Poblenou, 156, in Barcelona. You will also have the possibility of teleworking, depending on organisational needs and the nature of the tasks.
