University of Alicante call for applications to cover a contractual predoctoral research position to collaborate with the project "behavioural economics and current social challenges" of the department of foundations of economic analysis. reference: I-PI 31-24

The contract is part of the grant PID2022-142356NB-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and FSE+

Pursuant to the provisions of Order CIN/1025/2022, of 27 October, which approves the regulatory bases for the granting of public aid corresponding to various programmes and subprogrammes of the Spain’s State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023, managed by the Spanish State Research Agency, in the call for early processing for 2022 of the procedure for granting aid to "Knowledge Generation Projects" and actions for training predoctoral research staff associated with these projects, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023 and its regulatory bases, the University of Alicante calls for applications to to fill a job position. This selection process will also be ruled by the provisions of the University of Alicante Regulations governing calls for applications of research staff to cover a contractual predoctoral research positions, approved by the Governing Council of 29 June 2021 (BOUA of 30 June 2021) and with instructions of the University of Alicante Offices of the Registrar and the Comptroller, which establish the mandatory use of electronic means for the submission of applications, documentation, payment of fees, communications, notifications and all other procedures of the selection procedures for the temporary contractual administrative and services staff and research staff and other general applicable regulations, in accordance with the following terms and conditions:

 

First. Features of the job vacancy and employment conditions of the contract:

1.1. Number of job vacancies: one

1.2. Job position: Predoctoral Researcher.

1.3. Working hours: 37.5 hours/week in the morning/afternoon sessions.

1.4. Remuneration: 1,321.43 € gross/monthly (plus extra payments in accordance with current regulations) during the first year; €1,364.08 gross/monthly in the second year and €1,705.10 gross/monthly in the third and fourth years, plus the salary increases as approved by law for each year.

In any case, the remuneration of this contract may not be less than 56% of the salary set for the equivalent categories in the relevant collective bargaining agreements during the first year, 60% during the second year, and 75% during the third and fourth years. Nor may it be less than the minimum interprofessional wage established each year, in accordance with article 27 of the Recast Version of the Workers' Statute Law.

1.5. Estimated duration of the contract: from 1 June 2024 to 31 January /2028.

In accordance with the provisions of the agreement of the Governing Council of 27 January 2022, which approves the University of Alicante 4th Plan for equal opportunities between women and men, it is hereby stated that there is no under-representation of either gender in the category of predoctoral researcher.

1.6. This contractual research position also covers research stays made by the selected candidate in R&D centres and enrolment fees in doctoral studies at the University of Alicante, in accordance with the provisions specified in Article 12, 13 and 14 of the Order approving the call for applications under early procedure for the year 2022 to fund "Knowledge Generation Projects" and actions for training predoctoral research staff associated with these projects, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.

In accordance with the provisions of the agreement of the Governing Council of 27 January 2022, which approves the University of Alicante 4th Plan for equal opportunities between women and men, it is hereby stated that there is no under-representation of either gender in the category of Predoctoral Researcher.

 

Second. Purpose.

Collaborate in the project "Behavioural Economics and Current Social Challenges (PID2022-142356NB-I00)" by carrying out research tasks, as well as doctoral training in the area of Foundations of Economic Analysis pursuing a doctoral thesis associated with the aforementioned project.

 

Third. Job profile. Preference will be given to:

3.1. Those meeting the evaluation criteria on section eight of the terms agreed and related to behavioural economics and its theoretical models, including:

    • Theoretical models that would traditionally fall under neoclassical economics, but which have been adapted to incorporate biases or heuristics, and therefore come to be considered as behavioural economics models.
    • Theoretical models on which precise predictions are made to be tested by laboratory experiments, as well as the design and execution of such experiments.

3.2. Language: Knowledge of English.

3.3. Qualification:

    • Undergraduate degree in Economics or Mathematics, or any other undergraduate degree with equivalent content.
    • Master’s degree related to Economics.

 

Fourth. Requirements for applicants.

Compliance with the requirements listed below must always refer to the date of expiry of the deadline for the submission of applications and must be maintained until the date of entering into the contract.

4.1. Hold or be in the process of obtaining an undergraduate degree (including engineering and architecture studies), of at least 300 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer   System), a Master's degree, or equivalent degree.

4.2. Meet the academic requirements necessary for admission to the PhD programme in Economics at the University of Alicante for the completion of a PhD thesis associated with the research project PID2022-142356NB-I00. The document accrediting admission to such a doctoral programme must imperatively be submitted when entering into the contract.

4.3. Must not hold a PhD awarded by a Spanish or foreign university.

4.4. Be a Spanish national or be in one of the situations listed in article 57 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015, of 30 October, which approves the revised text of the Act on the Basic Statute of Public Employees (BOE of 31 October). In the case established in point 4 of this article, when entering into the employment contract, the successful applicant must be a legal resident in Spain.

4.5. Be at least 16 years of age and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.

4.6. Possess the physical and mental capacities and aptitudes that are necessary for the performance of the corresponding functions or tasks, for which, prior to the signing of the contract, a medical certificate must be provided certifying the possession of said capacities and aptitudes. For these purposes, medical examinations may be carried out through the medical assistance provided by the University of Alicante Occupational Health Service.

4.7. Must not have been dismissed by disciplinary proceedings from the service of any of the Public Administrations or of the constitutional or statutory bodies of the Spanish Autonomous Regions, nor have been totally or specially disqualified for public employment by a court decision, for access to the civil service, or to perform duties similar to those performed by non-tenured staff in public administrations, in which they had been dismissed or disqualified. If you are a national of another State, you must not be in a situation of disqualification or equivalent, nor have been subjected to a disciplinary or equivalent sanction that prevents, under the same terms, access to public employment in your State.
