Call for PhD applicant:

Enhancing Collaborative Meetings in Virtual Reality

A new FET-EC Grant starts at the University of Barcelona in January 2022 for 4 years. The grant is awarded to Dr Mel Slater, Director of the Event Lab (www.melslater.me) .

The Event Lab (Experimental Virtual Environments for Neuroscience and Technology) at the University of Barcelona is an internationally known research lab in the field of virtual reality, and is also addresses interdisciplinary problems in psychology and neuroscience using virtual reality. Please see publications on http://publicationslist.org/melslater . The project is concerned with promoting successful outcomes of virtual reality meetings attended by remote participants.

We have an industry funded PhD place to be carried out in the Event Lab that will concentrate on methods for the enhancement of virtual reality scenarios that are simultaneously shared by multiple people across the world. The PhD will focus on the use of Machine Learning techniques that aim to enhance the collaboration, such as the success of meetings.

The first supervisor of the research will be Prof. Mel Slater. The successful candidate will join a team at the Event Lab who are working on a European Union Proact project GuestXR.
