Postdoctoral Researcher (Ref: Postdoc 2022-25 ER)

Updated: over 1 year ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 24 Aug 2022

The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher. This position will be funded by the European Research Council (ERC) via Dr. Elisabet Romero´s ERC Starting Grant entitled BioInspired_SolarH2 (GA 805524) aiming to develop a new generation of bio-inspired systems with the ultimate goal of converting solar energy to fuel.

ICIQ is committed to performing excellent research at the frontier of knowledge in the broad area of chemistry (Catalysis, Artificial Photosynthesis, Activation of Small Molecules, Photovoltaics, Functional Molecular Assemblies and Chemical Biology, from either theoretical or experimental perspectives). The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programmes to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (Full details on http://www.iciq.org/ ).

ICIQ is looking for a motivated researcher to work in the group of Dr. Elisabet Romero. The successful candidate will propose new systems with enhanced properties based on Computational Chemistry methods.

For more information about the host group see: http://www.iciq.org/research/research_group/dr-elisabet-romero/section/research_overview/ .

Responsibilities

  • Calculate relevant properties of our systems of interest (chromophore-protein assemblies) such as site energy, electronic coupling, spectral density (among others) as well as to predict the assembly’s behavior upon light absorption, that is, to predict the mechanism and times scales of ultrafast energy and electron to transfer in those systems. In relation to that, the successful candidate should be able to relate her/his calculations to the static and dynamic properties of the assemblies as observed in the available spectroscopic data collected by the other team members (among these techniques: (time-resolved) Two-Dimensional Electronic Spectroscopy (2DES), Transient Absorption, Time-correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC); (steady-state) Absorption, Fluorescence, Linear and Circular Dichroism, Stark, Raman, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Fluorescence Line-Narrowing (FLN)].
  • Create programs (scripts) to analyse spectroscopic data such as Linear/Circular Dichroism and Stark Spectroscopy.
  • Conduct independent research, as well as in collaboration with other members of the group.
  • Supervise PhD and/or Master students.
