Postdoctoral Position in Prehistoric Archaeology and Zooarchaeology 

Job position requirements (skills/languages/required experience) 

• PhD in Prehistoric Archaeology.

• Specialised training or research experience in zooarchaeology.

• Demonstrable research experience in the prehistory of the La Garrotxa volcanic region, particularly in relation to Neolithisation processes.

• Proven expertise in the zooarchaeological analysis of prehistoric faunal assemblages, including taxonomic and anatomical identification, biometric, taphonomic and demographic analyses.

• Experience in archaeological excavation and survey.

• Experience in the three-dimensional documentation and recording of archaeological materials and structures using high-precision 3D scanners and in processing digital models.

• Track record of scientific publications in prehistoric archaeology, zooarchaeology or fields related to the project, together with experience presenting research findings at scientific conferences and participating in knowledge-transfer and public-engagement activities.

• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, coordinate fieldwork and laboratory tasks, and meet project objectives within established deadlines.

• Proficiency in spoken and written Catalan and Spanish.

• Sufficient command of English for reading and writing scientific texts and communicating in academic contexts.

26.820,60 € (Gross annual)

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must hold a PhD in Prehistoric Archaeology by the application deadline and meet the essential research and language requirements specified above.

• Academic record and suitability of training: 20 points

 PhD in Prehistoric Archaeology: up to 15 points; Additional training related to archaeozoology: up to 5 points

• Professional and research experience: 70 points

Research experience in prehistoric archaeology of the volcanic area of La Garrotxa, particularly in relation to Neolithisation processes: up to 20 points; Experience in the archaeozoological analysis of prehistoric faunal assemblages, including taxonomic and anatomical identification, biometry, taphonomy, and the study of demographic profiles: up to 30 points; Experience in archaeological excavations and surveys at the sites included in project ARQ001SOLC-261-2025: up to 15 points; Experience in the 3D documentation and recording of archaeological materials and in processing models using VXelements software: up to 5 points

• Scientific output and dissemination of results: 10 points

Scientific publications in prehistoric archaeology and archaeozoology, or in fields related to the project topic: up to 5 points; Presentation of results at conferences and scientific meetings, and participation in knowledge transfer or outreach activities: up to 5 points

Minimum score required to pass the selection process: 60

Selection process:

A single phase of curricular evaluation and, if necessary, a second phase of interview.
