Postdoctoral position at the Structural Genomics Group of CNAG-CRG

Updated: over 1 year ago
Deadline: ; Deadline: Please submit your application by October 31st, 2022.

The Institute

The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG-CRG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. CNAG-CRG researchers participate in major International Genomic Initiatives such as the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.

It is integrated with the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' logo from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role

The Structural Genomics Group headed by Marc A. Marti-Renom and hosted at the CNAG and Gene Regulation, Stem Cells and Cancer programs of the CNAG-CRG is seeking a Post-doc to work in the field of data visualization and modeling of microbiota omics data.

Currently, we are looking for a candidate with experience in data visualization and analysis. Candidates should have a background in computational methods for large datasets visualization preferably next generation sequencing datasets. Experience in coding JavaScript, CSS and/or Python is a prerequisite. The candidate will actively participate in a funded project by H2020 on 3D’omics entitled “Three-dimensional holo’omic landscapes to unveil host-microbiota interactions shaping animal production” and coordinated by Antton Alberdi (University of Copenhagen). Thus, the candidate will be part of a large inter-disciplinary team composed of 13 research labs in 12 different EU countries.

About the team

Our group at the National Center for Genomic Analysis - Centre for Genomic Regulation (CNAG-CRG) develops and uses experimental and computational approaches for characterizing the molecular regulation of cells by studying the structure of macromolecules and their complexes. In particular, we focus on regulatory molecules such as RNA and chromatin.

Our group (http://sgt.cnag.cat/www/people/ ) is very interdisciplinary (the team has been composed by biologists, biochemists, physicists, architects, mathematicians, statisticians, pharmacists, molecular biologists, and geneticists), young (http://sgt.cnag.cat/www/people/?lab_pics ), international and dynamic. We are committed to make the stay of our people as fun as possible while enjoying science.
