CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biennialreport2018-2019.cragenomica.es/ ).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The “Environmental and day length and control of storage organ formation” group of CRAG, led by Prof. Salomé Prat offers a post-doctoral position to work in the H2020- ADAPT project addressed to increase tolerance of commercial potato cultivars to global warming. Tasks of the hired candidate will be the analyses of the response of potato plants to combined heat and drought stresses, towards the design of novel strategies to improve yield of tubers in a climate change scenario. Elevated ambient temperatures are found to suppress expression of the SP6A FT tuberization signal, and the work will be addressed to identify the transcriptional regulators of this gene and unveil the mechanisms by which temperatures over 25ºC suppress their function.
