The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role  

The postdoc will join an interdisciplinary team funded by the European Research Council to identify small molecule modulators of alternative pre-mRNA splicing. The tasks will include the design of chemical screens, identification of targets and mechanisms of action and the analysis of possible biomedical and biotechnological applications.  

About the team

The Valcárcel lab has worked on molecular mechanisms of alternative splicing regulation for more than 25 years, combining biochemistry, cellular assays, transcriptomics, network reconstruction, high-throughput technologies and work in animal models. The group has participated in several collaborative European Projects and has received funding from the European Research Council, the European Innovation Council and the EU-funded H2020 Health Program. 

Whom would we like to hire?  

Professional experience

Must Have


  • You have at least 5 years of experience in Molecular Biology 

  • You have proven experience in analysis of RNA 

  • You are fluent in English 


Desirable but not required/ Nice to have 


  • Knowledge of chemical and RNA bioloy 


Education and training


Languages


  • You are proficient in English 


Technical skills


  • You have advanced MS Office skills


Competences  


  • Highly developed organizational skills

  • Contract duration: Technical and scientific activities contract – estimated 1 year


  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales
