Offer Description

The laboratory is interested in investigating the earliest stages of molecular novelties: how newly originated genes, such as new Transcription Factors (TFs), are integrated for the first time into a biological system. To be able to capture these very initial moments, instead of studying naturally occurring events, in the Maeso lab we mimic these early interactions by putting in contact molecular structures that had never interacted before. Thus, we introduce ectopic TFs in new host organisms and profile their molecular interactions. To that end, we use a variety of functional genomic approaches (ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Micro-C) and model systems such as zebrafish, yeast  and mammalian cell lines.
