OFFER DESCRIPTION

The project focusses on the identification of microbial networks involved in the removal of polycyclic aromatic compounds from contaminated soils. The selected candidate will be responsible for processing high throughput sequencing data from soil microbiomes (16S rRNA surveys) and shotgun metagenomic sequencing; whole genome sequencing of bacterial isolates; and quantification of biomarker gene abundance and expression by qPCR and RT-qPCR. Other functions will include statistical analysis using R, and preparation of data for publication

Gross salary per month 2700 €

Eligibility criteria

PhD or equivalent, statistics analysis and bioinformatic skills, Knowledge on microbial community analysis

Selection process

• Adequacy of the CV to the offer description (màximum 50)

• PhD in the Research area (30), PhD i any area (10)

• Motivation letter (maximum 30)

• Experience in the analytical techniques described in the específic requirements (màximum 20). ( >3 years (15 points), <3 years (5 points)

Priority will be given to people with disabilities (Law 89/2015 of June 2, reserve of quota 2% in favour of people with disabilities in companies of 50 or more people).

Skills/Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of the microbial processes for biodegradation of organic contaminants in soils. Metagenomic analysis of microbial communities involved in organic contaminant degradation, analysis and quantification of molecular markers (qPCR and RT-qPCR), analysis of bacterial genomes

Specific Requirements

Experience in the use of software for microbiome data analysis (Mothur, Qiime, Dada2), bioinformatic processing of whole genome and shotgun metagenomic sequencing data, metabolic pathway reconstruction (GhostKOALA, MetaCYC, AromaDeg), and statistical analysis using R
