Postdoc for a European project on nanomechanical analysis of fresh tumor biopsies

Updated: about 1 month ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 16 Jul 2022

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to work on a multidisciplinary FET-Open project on the nanomechanical analysis of fresh tumor biopsies from lung cancer patients. Applicants should be fluent in English, hold a PhD with at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience in lung cancer biology, have expertise in multidisciplinary research (tumor biology, biophysics/bioengineering, tumor angiogenesis) and preclinical models based on precision-cut fresh tissue samples (PCFTS). Additional highly regarded skills include histologic staining of stromal markers, cell culture of fibroblasts, endothelial cells and other stromal cells, and the state-of-the-art of cell and molecular biology techniques (qRT-PCR, WB, ELISA, siRNA…). The main task will be to lead the experimental tasks of this FET-Open project in the laboratory of Dr Alcaraz at the University of Barcelona, design, perform and analyze the results of the required experiments, write reports for work-in-progress meetings, and attend meetings with other groups of the consortium of this project. Major tasks involved include optimizing the PCFTS model to adapt it to the nanopilar-based system to effectively assess tissue nanomechanics, monitor tissue response in terms of a panel of cancer-relevant biomarkers (by IHC, PCR..), and identify suitable drugs to test with this system.
