Post-doctoral position in physics inspired and accelerated algorithms for optimization

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 19 Jun 2022

ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will be joining the Quantum Information Theory group led by Prof. Dr. Antonio Acín and, in collaboration with Quside, develop new algorithms for optimization problems. Among the most promising new methods, physics-inspired optimizers have a wide range of potential applicability due - among other reasons - to the advent of quantum computers, as well as to the remarkable ability of these methods to provide extraordinarily efficient heuristics in terms of the quality of the solution/computational cost required. Quside is building specialized hardware solutions and architectures implementing a variety of physics-inspired technologies to provide a novel platform to address optimization problems. The candidate will advance on the development of these algorithms, studying their improvement, benchmarking and application to relevant cases.
