What we are looking for

The Faculty of Economic and Social Science is looking for a Post-doctoral Assistant Lecturer to teach and carry out research in the area of accounting and/or finance. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the teaching and development of our existing accounting and financial management modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The Faculty’s teaching portfolio includes a range of bachelor’s degrees in business and management and a specialist postgraduate Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurial Finance: Venture Capital and Private Equity. The successful applicant is also expected to engage in individual and collaborative research activities resulting in high-quality and internationally-rated output in accounting and/or finance journals.

Requirements

- Essential requirements.

Candidates must have:

• A PhD in a field related to the position (accounting, finance or economics)
• At least one or two years’ postdoctoral experience
• Teaching experience with positive results in terms of student satisfaction
• Fluency in English
• Evidence of having published articles in high-quality and internationally-rated peer-reviewed journals

The following aspects of the candidate’s CV will be assessed:

• Proven record of effective teaching
• Excellent presentation skills in English and/or Catalan/Spanish
• Proficiency in oral and written English
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team in both teaching and research activities
• The ability to supervise and guide bachelor’s and master’s degree students in their research projects
