The main objective of “FOOD4BRAIN_Estudio de patrones dietéticos basados en metabotipos asociados a salud cerebral” is to investigate in depth the interactions between dietary patterns, metabolomic markers of the activity of the intestinal microbiota, and clinical and biochemical markers of cognitive impairment and brain health in order to discover metabolic profiles or metabotypes with the ultimate goal of develop personalized dietary interventions aimed at maintaining brain health.
Project description
The main objective of “FOOD4BRAIN_Estudio de patrones dietéticos basados en metabotipos asociados a salud cerebral” is to investigate in depth the interactions between dietary patterns, metabolomic markers of the activity of the intestinal microbiota, and clinical and biochemical markers of cognitive impairment and brain health in order to discover metabolic profiles or metabotypes with the ultimate goal of develop personalized dietary interventions aimed at maintaining brain health.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with interests in analytical chemistry, specifically in the use of mass spectrometry.
The candidate must:
- Hold a PhD in Food Science, Life Science or Chemistry specialized in analytical chemistry.
- Proven experience in bioanalytical methods development, validation, and analysis.
- Experience with sample preparation, specifically with solid phase extraction and analysis by HPLC, GC and MS.
- Experience with targeted and untargeted metabolomics
- Postdoctoral experience of more than 4 years.
- Knowledge of software for data analysis
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day lab work
- Processing and analysis of biological samples
- Supervision of PhD and Master students
Functions and/or tasks of the position
- Inventory control
- Purchases of material inputs
- Reception and organization of the samples
- Development and validation of LC-MS methodologies
- Extraction of bioactive compounds by solid phase extraction
- Analysis by LC-MS
- Data treatment
- Elaboration of analysis reports
- Supervision of analysis, reports and manuscripts elaborated by postgraduate students
